Contemporary Realist Greek Theater and Film Acting_(1958-2010)

"This scholarly study examines the utilisation of acting techniques in modern Greek theatre and cinema through a comparative analysis of Stanislavski's approach and the Method Acting framework. The initial section of the study provides a comprehensive historical overview, highlighting the evolution of these methods and emphasising their distinct characteristics. The second section examines Karolos Koun, a seminal figure in the development of modern Greek theatre. Through a synthesis of Stanislavski's techniques and ancient Greek cultural codes employed by staging of ancient Greek works, Koun elevated modern Greek theatre to a universal level. The publication also features the work of Koun's students, Giorgos Armenis and Giorgos Michalakopoulos, who have adapted Koun's method in the context of cinema. In addition, it includes contributions from other Greek actors, including Dimitris Horn's interpretation of Strasberg.

At the last part, the present study provides interpretations of Stanislavski's practices as it pertains to the films of Yannis Economides, a director who is practice to be one of the marginal directors of modern Greek cinema."
